Overview
Learn strategies and skills to better manage and motivate difficult colleagues
Many of us, at some point in our careers, deal with challenging colleagues, unmotivated subordinates, difficult bosses and customers.
This short course aims to help you:
- Understand what makes individuals challenging to work with
- Develop an awareness of the individual’s role in the workplace, management styles and reward systems
By the end, you will be equipped with a toolkit of strategies and skills to manage and motivate people at work.
This course has been accredited by the Institute of Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and mapped to one of the competency areas under the IHRP Body of Competencies. Topic Coverage
This course addresses the following questions:
- Who are difficult employees? How can you identify them?
- Why do employees or bosses behave in “difficult ways?”
- What impact on the behaviour of difficult employees do reward systems, management styles and individual characteristics have?
- What are some strategies for leading difficult employees and harnessing their potential?
- What are some strategies for managing difficult bosses and coworkers?
- How does technology impact interactions and relationships at work?
- How can you navigate challenging relationships in the future workplace?
Experiential exercises, case studies and videos will be used throughout the lecture-based course.
Who Should Attend
Professionals, team leaders and mid-level managers in supervisory roles, with at least five years of work experience
